Normandy Programme of June
Events 2011
(From
Bern & Fay).
If you are planning to come to France for the June
D-Day Commemorations this year
Please Note:-
It has been mentioned, regarding
the Queen's
Diamond Jubilee that:- The
British government has designated Tuesday, 5th
June, an additional bank holiday and moved the
late May bank holiday to 4th June to enable a
four-day weekend of events.
It may be worth booking early in
case people take advantage of the holiday, and no
school, to come to France. Ferries
may be busy if you leave it too late ! ! !
Can I take this opportunity to remind all
organisers of events to let us know in good time
what is planned so we can put together the
programme.
We
are also pleased to hear from anyone who knows of
events to also let us know, with details of the
organisers if possible. Better to have too much
information than not enough.
Please feel free to pass
this email around.
Anyone not already on our mailing
list is welcome to join by emailing us at faybern35610@orange.fr
Please put Para on the subject line.
It will also help if you can mention your interest,
Veteran or family (? Battalion) etc.
This makes a change not to be
sending a “Last Post”, we had enough in 2011.
While Veterans are dying to get a mention on our
“Last Post” notices they should be aware that, we
will never speak again to anyone doing it in 2012
!
Keep Well and see you in June.

LEGASEE FILM ARCHIVE
As part of an exciting social history project, the film company Legasee
is looking for veterans from any conflict who would like to have their
stories filmed for posterity. This footage will be used to launch a
unique online archive of interviews for use by schools, colleges and
members of the public.
FIRST INTERVIEWS “IN THE CAN”
We’re now making final preparations to the first
batch of interviews that were filmed last week and will add them to
the new web site in the next 7 to 10 days. We’ll email you when our
new web site goes online so you can check out the interviews.
We’ll add the first 5 interviews when we launch
the new web site, then we’ll add 2 or 3 interviews each week.
LEGASEE PROMOTIONAL VIDEO & POSTER
Using footage of the veterans from these
interviews, we’ve created a short
Promotional Video which you might like to see.
We’ve had this A4 poster designed and we’d
appreciate any help you can give us to get these posters placed in
locations where veterans frequent. We can email a copy to anyone
interested or you can print your own by clicking on the image
opposite and printing the A4 copy that will be revealed. (125% for
full A4).
Kind regards
Dave Player
